Last Tuesday, ROOFTOP Agency and TOMS shoes went One Day Without Shoes at Yonge & Dundas square [yes, in the rain, sleet and wind] to raise awareness to the reality of children around the world who go without shoes every day. The activation was both inspiring and eye opening as Torontonians came together to participate in a day filled with fun, great music and above all education around the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life.
The day began with a barefoot walk around Toronto’s downtown core. In unison we walked as a united front alongside others in cities all over the world, daring everyone we passed to pledge and join us.
One Day Without Shoes was an international success and our activation at Yonge & Dundas Square was a day to be remembered. All who participated, pledged their support or promoted the day should be so proud to have been part of such an incredible day. From ROOFTOP Agency – we thank you you all so much and can’t wait to do it all again next year.
For those consumers out there who aren’t clear on what TOMS shoes is all about or why they are so awesome – let me fill you in. TOMS works on a One 4 One business model. For every pair of shoes you buy they send a pair to a child in need. It’s simple and righteous and everyone should go out RIGHT NOW and buy a pair to support them. They’re also super cute, come in a variety of colours and styles and in our opinion are a necessity in any summer wardrobe.
A special mention to the fantastic Toronto food truck – Toasted Tangerine for supplying the delicious eats and hot drinks, to Master Dave the chalk artist and Branko from Dinosaur Bones for being the biggest supporter out there. Thanks to Toronto bands, Sandman Viper Command, Poor Young Things, Bleeeker Ridge, Balconies, Hands & Teeth, Indian Handcrafts, Revelstoke and Whale Tooth for braving the elements and jamming out without shoes.
Below is a Thank You from TOMS. For more information on the One Day Without Shoes campaign or how you can get involved next year click on the video.
