The legendary Levon Helm passed away yesterday at the age of 71. He was battling throat cancer for some time. He apparently passed away peacefully while surrounded by his friends and family.
Levon was the drummer/vocalist for The Band and he was exceptional at both. He had a very distinctive voice and personally I think he was the best singer in the group.
Along with many others I’m sure, I plan on honouring his long and interesting career with kicking back and listening to my favourite tunes from The Band. I might even throw on “The Last Waltz” and watch it for the hundredth time. And what better day to do it that than 420!
